Welcome! It's easier and cheaper than you think...

Yes! It's easier and cheaper than you think. The first thing you need to know is a little or basic idea about music. Now, I won't teach you music, but learning tonic solfa (do, re, mi. fa, so, la, ti, do) on the keyboard is a good start.

You have a head-start if you're already into musical instruments. However, you don't need to be an expert in music to make your own music. All you may need is passion and time for the art of music. In the end, you could be making your own musical demos, pre-studios or total musical production for others.

The next item on the list is a computer. A laptop computer is preferable because of portability. Any computer with specifications not lesser than the following will do:
  • 2-3 GHz AMD or Intel Pentium 4 compatible CPU with full SSE1 support (running Windows XP-with service pack 3, Vista, Win7, 32 & 64 bit)
  • Windows 2000/XP-with service pack 3/2003/Vista/Win7 (32 & 64 bit)
  • 1Gb RAM or more recommended
  • 1Gb free hard disk space

This third requirement might cost a little but I bet it's gonna worth every penny you put on it if you can invest your time and master it. It is a sound composer/recorder/production software. Yes! I described it so because it's useful for all sorts in sound production. There several types of this type of software. We have:

  1. FL Studio Producer Edition
  2. Apple Logic Pro
  3. Ableton Live Intro
  4. Reason Essentials
  5. n-Track Studio EX
  6. Sony ACID Music Studio
There are many others, but these are the top six according to the latest comparison- http://audio-production-software-review.toptenreviews.com/ (Check out the latest list at https://www.musicianonamission.com/best-daw-2016/).

I have tried my hands on Apple Logic Pro and FL Studio Producer Edition, but I have decided to stick to one; FL Studio. The two software cost almost the same amount ($200) but I chose FL Studio because it's has a friendlier user interface.

So, I'm recommending the FL Studio Producer Edition. You could Google it to get information on how to buy or download a registered producer edition. Once you have installed
FL Studio on your computer, you are now a certified owner of a Digital Audio Workstation (DAWs) and possibilities are limitless. You can start composing or making music from scratch. The major advantage of DAWs is that it eliminates a lot of hardware and it is portable since you can take your laptop anywhere.

The next thing on the list is creativity. Until next time, be sure to explore YouTube for FL Studio Tutorials. Thanks!
